Baraka goes beyond a social card: one card for payments, documents, transport and state benefits
Baraka has introduced an updated card and app that bring together state benefits, everyday payments, digital documents and transport features. Issued jointly with Aloqabank and Xalq Bank, the card works as a full Visa card and can be used in Uzbekistan and abroad.
Baraka was created as a single point of access to state social support, where people can receive the payments they are entitled to and apply for and manage social services. Today, the service offers far more than benefits. The Visa card from Aloqabank and Xalq Bank can be used for everyday purchases and online payments, while staying directly connected to government systems. With the Baraka card and app, users can receive state payments, pay for public transport and confirm their identity without carrying several documents.
One card, several roles
The Baraka card combines four key functions, serving as a bank card, social card, transport card and ID card.
The app also handles everyday financial operations, including card-to-card (P2P) transfers, utility payments and card top-ups. Baraka can be topped up directly from any Uzcard or Humo card through the app.
Baraka also stores digital documents that are legally valid and officially recognised in Uzbekistan. In total, 19 digital documents are available in the app, including identity documents, a driving licence, certificates, education documents, a student ID and more. The card can also replace a student ID, a disability certificate and a student passport, and can confirm the social status of schoolchildren and war veterans.
Baraka on the global Visa network
The Baraka card meets Visa security standards and is accepted in Uzbekistan and in more than 200 countries worldwide, at POS terminals, at ATMs and online. Payments via Xolis QR and UzQR are available, and integration with Tez QR, Rahmat QR and ATTO QR is planned.
ATTO transport card
The physical Baraka card can be used as a full ATTO card to pay for public transport. It supports all four types of ATTO fares:
- Transfer fare: a discount on additional trips within one hour.
- Monthly fare: limited and unlimited passes for a set period.
- Concession fare: a 50% discount for university students, school pupils, pensioners and other eligible groups.
- Free travel for eight eligible groups defined by law.
For now, fare payments and concession fares only work with the physical Baraka card. Payment via ATTO QR will be added to the app later.
A card for state benefits and everyday spending
The app lets users apply for, track and manage more than 60 state social payments and services. There is no need to queue, collect extra paperwork or confirm one’s status several times.
Benefits, stipends, sick pay and maternity payments are transferred straight to the card. Users can check the status of their payments and see when they arrive in the Baraka app. Social funds on the card are protected by law: banks are prohibited from automatically deducting social payments to repay loan debt. This keeps state support separate from the user’s other financial obligations.
Student life made easier with Baraka
The card brings together several familiar tools: a bank card, a student ID, documents and transport features. Stipends can be paid directly to the card, and the student ID and transport pass are available in digital form in the app.
Thanks to Visa integration, the card can easily be used to pay for international online services and subscriptions, which are especially useful for studying and everyday student life. Baraka also offers card-to-card transfers and utility payments, so students don’t need several different services for everyday finances.
How to get a Baraka card
The virtual Baraka card is free and available to all users. A physical card costs 40,000 soum. To get one, register in the Baraka app, enter the required details and submit a request. Physical cards are issued through Aloqabank and Xalq Bank, and the finished card can be collected at the selected bank branch.
