What is a Social Card?
In Uzbekistan, the “Social Card” system is being introduced under the National Agency for Social Protection (IHMA).
This system is designed to make access to government social protection services easier and more convenient. All relevant documents are consolidated into a single digital platform, reducing paperwork and eliminating long queues.
But what does this mean in practice? What is a social card, and how can it improve your daily life or provide additional benefits?
What is the Baraka Social Card?
The Social Card is a multifunctional card that serves as:
- A bank card
- A personal identification document
- A transport card
- A disability status confirmation document
- A student ID (where applicable)
You can carry it with you like a passport or ID card, while also using it for payments.
In addition, the card indicates whether the holder belongs to one or more categories of socially vulnerable groups eligible for state support.
In Uzbekistan, this unified social card is issued under the name Baraka Card.
The Baraka Card is integrated with the Baraka mobile application, which is used to manage the card and its services.
